2007 - Looking Back - World - Iceland & Me

2007 has been a great year for the most part.

The World is still spinning even though it has been troubled by natural disasters in places like Bangladesh and man made disasters in places like Iraq.

Much has been spoken about issues like “global warming” and the famous “bird flu”. At least for the bird flu I think it has been blown up way beyond what is necessary. It would not surprise me if this whole thing proved to be a big publicity stunt by the drug companies and the researchers raking in money.

It seems so easy for any small group to catch the interest of media. And the media is so shallow and only wants to talk about what is happening at this moment.

Iceland has had its share of trouble.

The economy seemed to be going strong until November when stock prices fell and are now about the same as the beginning of the year. The Icelandic Krona (IKR) is one of the smallest currencies in the world and I think I am not alone when I say it should be abandoned for something more stable, probably the Euro.

The mixture of politics and companies can always be easily flammable and in some cases even explosive like the major of Reykjavik found out the hard way when the city regime were forced to resign.

Politically it is improved by freeing the national government of the farmers party (Framsóknarflokkurinn).

I have been working hard on making my web sites successful. After a serious drop in Google AdSense income it is gradually growing. Naturally I have been looking at making other web sites and I made a few web sites for small businesses.

4×4OffRoads.com has been growing steadily in visitors and content. It now has close to 7000 daily visitors. I made a number of off roading trips that I wrote about and even one to Norway this autumn.

Art-Iceland.com has a steady number visitors in the 200-400 guests a day range. It is also a gallery in the center of Reykjavik city. Unfortunately the sales have been going too slow and the cost is high on rent and other things.

Digital-Photo-Web.com has similar visitor numbers but the AdSense income pr. guest is low and I am still trying to figure out why.

Boat2Fish.net is the newcomer and is made in partnership with a boat builder expert. I have even gone as far as acquiring a captains license and had great fun at the same time.

I believe the best way to get rich is through good real estate investments. Late this year I partnered with two friends in buying a house in southern Denmark. Real estate prices in Denmark are way lower than here in Iceland. We intend to spend time to fix the house up and make apartments to rent.

I joined Social Power Linking a few days ago and the first thing I did was start this new site with WordPress:

www.thrandur.net

Am planning on that site to be the hub for all the other sites and draw traffic. Hoping to be the next internet GURU Laughing

I have done SOME of the things Jack talks about. And guess what?

- It is already in Google index
- It ranks third first place in Google for “Generating Web 2.0 Traffic” !

Still trying to get my head around all this and am just SO excited about the future possibilities.

Generating Web 2.0 Traffic

December 29th, 2007 by thrandur

I just found an incredible resource for generating Web 2.0 traffic!

It is a link building solution that will have you ranking higher in the search engines and grabbing more traffic in a day than you get in a week right now…or more!

I’m talking about the kind of traffic that will exceed your monthly bandwidth allotment. This is that good.

I am currently in the process of testing this out and this blog is a big part of the whole plan.

Hello world!

December 28th, 2007 by thrandur

Well …

… “it’s about time” you might say. And - yeah this is the first time I start a real blog. In this blog I intend to open my “doors” and share all sorts of different things I find out about the life and the world we live in and how to handle the tasks it throws at us.

In particular I will chat about the internet and the technology we use to bring fresh ideas to people and just in general to be a part of the growing community that is being formed by the net.

P.S.

I was hoping to get the domain thrandur.com — but unfortunately someone has grabbed it before me. Never mind, this thrandur.net will be just as good and the .net ending kind of links it better to the purpose of
